As noted in the About Sharon section, I edited nonfiction books for many years and taught editing before I began my book arts journey. With the books in the Incompleat Editor series, I tackle the task of editing excerpts from selected classic literary works as might an inexperienced but overly eager and supremely confident new copyeditor--someone sure of her or his ability to improve any text. The piano-hinge structure incorporates colored pencils, the traditional tool of editors, on the spine; and I edit the text by hand.
For the first book in this series, I chose Izaak Walton's Compleat Angler largely because that title allowed me to introduce the Incompleat Editor, that overzealous neophyte. In this book, the opening paragraph of Walton's classic work is at last nicely polished.
The Incompleat Editor plans to improve selections from a variety of books and relishes challenges. Please check with me about other books planned for this series, or let me know what cherished literary classic you'd like to see refined. I have almost as much fun as the Incompleat Editor does when working on these books.
