My one-of-a-kind books generally incorporate materials or techniques not readily adaptable to editions. At any given time, various books in this group may be in exhibitions, and some are already in private collections. I would like to share the photos and descriptions with you because these books offer special glimpses of my themes and bookmaking techniques. Each book description contains specific notes, but please check with me if you would like additional information about any of these one-of-a-kind books.
As simplicity and complexity mingle and dance, sway and embrace, I pause to admire their mysterious ways of dwelling together. Each holds the other’s secrets, bears the other’s promises, and invites my searching. In Source Notes I return to a broad theme I’m powerfully drawn to in creating artist’s books: how life’s “basics”—elemental patterns in nature, the alphabet, primary colors—are a source of wonder and intrigue. This book’s full title harks back to titles from earlier centuries and, in a playful spirit, becomes the text of Source Notes. (8” x 4” x 1 ¼”, closed; 8” x 11 ½” x 4”, open)
