My one-of-a-kind books generally incorporate materials or techniques not readily adaptable to editions. At any given time, various books in this group may be in exhibitions, and some are already in private collections. I would like to share the photos and descriptions with you because these books offer special glimpses of my themes and bookmaking techniques. Each book description contains specific notes, but please check with me if you would like additional information about any of these one-of-a-kind books.
Presence
This book was part of the Slow Book Salon's Design Gallery exhibition (Burnsville, NC), August 28-September 26, 2009.
Formed in a palm-leaf structure, Presence incorporates lokta, watercolor, and Strathmore papers; nylon-blend cord; and beads. An original poem, presented in two ways, is handwritten on both sides of the book, and an original watercolor painting appears on one side.
Experiences at a meditation retreat led to these
reflections, in word and image, about the many different calls
to present-moment awareness.
